Est. 1720 San Gimignano Tuscany

Our Story

Chapter 1 - Origins

For over three centuries, the Giachi family has cultivated the rolling hills of San Gimignano, transforming Tuscan soil into world-renowned wines - and now, into an entirely new form of Italian luxury.

A legacy rooted in the land

Founded in 1720 in the heart of San Gimignano by Bartolomeo Giachi, Tenuta Torciano is one of Tuscany’s historic wineries.

For thirteen generations, the Giachi family has crafted wines, olive oil and balsamic vinegar exclusively in Tuscany, built on a foundation of integrity, high quality and excellent service.

Over the past decades, Tenuta Torciano has grown into an internationally recognized name, especially in the United States, which today represents its primary market.

This evolution was led by Pierluigi Giachi and Luciana Cilemmi, together with their son Emanuele Giachi and their daughter Vittoria Giachi, who transformed the estate into a benchmark for high-end wine tourism.

Today, the Torciano name stands for enological excellence, Tuscan hospitality and distinctive style, supported by a direct-to-client approach and a strong premium identity, expressed also through refined packaging and careful presentation.

“Tenuta Torciano, through the Cherubina bag, aims at restoring Made in Italy’s true value, by choosing time, craft, and human touch over detached mass production.”

“Choosing Cherubina means adopting it, living with it, and allowing it the time to become part of you.”

From within this legacy, a new perspective began to take shape

From within this legacy, a new perspective began to take shape within the family.

In 2021, at just sixteen years old, Vittoria took her first step into the world of Tenuta Torciano through a personal project: the book “About San Gimignano: My Journey into the Secrets of Tuscan Cuisine”.

Created with the intention of bringing Mediterranean culture closer to younger generations, the book reflects a desire to preserve tradition while making it accessible, relevant and alive.

The inspiration came from a discovery within the family tower in San Gimignano, where an old handwritten cookbook revealed the foundations of Tuscan cuisine.

From there began a journey of reinterpretation — transforming heritage into something lighter, more contemporary, yet still deeply rooted in its origins.

This same vision, shaped by curiosity and renewal, naturally evolved into what would later become Cherubina.

A NEW CHAPTER: CHERUBINA

Tenuta Torciano enters a new chapter of its story.

Luciana, Pierluigi and Emanuele, who built the foundations of the company and opened it to the world, now pass the torch to a new generation: Vittoria and Lucio. They share the same deep respect for authenticity and tradition, while interpreting these values through a more contemporary vision.

From this generational transition comes Cherubina: Tenuta Torciano’s first eather wine bag, and its first step into the world of luxury accessories. Not a break from the past, but a natural evolution of the Torciano philosophy that takes on a new, wearable form.

Created with the support of skilled artisans and industry experts, Cherubina brings together wine, design and fashion, transforming a symbol of Tuscan tradition into an object to be lived, carried and worn.

Behind this new chapter lies the further intimate origin of Cherubina, the grandmother of Luciana Giachi, who embodied an unmistakable elegance, shaped by a simple Tuscan life and craftsmanship.

She lovingly collected leather bags throughout her life, and her name, rooted in Catholic culture, evokes purity, grace and lightness — values she carried naturally in everything she did. In creating this piece, the intention was to bring her world into the present, allowing it to enter into dialogue with that of Tenuta Torciano.

The Cherubina bag becomes the point where these two legacies meet: her passion for leather bags and the family’s heritage of wine. Its dual function reflects this union, while its deep tones echo the richness and warmth of wine itself. Here, memory does not remain still: it evolves, finding a new form that can be lived, carried and worn.

Vision

In a world where Made in Italy is too often reduced to a hollow label, Tenuta Torciano chooses to protect its true meaning. Cherubina is crafted entirely in Italy, from the first cut of leather and raw metal to the final stitch and finishing touch. It is our way of standing alongside Italian artisans and small enterprises, preserving the spirit of this country.

Mission

Cherubina reinterprets the heritage of Tenuta Torciano through a new language, transforming Tuscan wine culture into an innovative, numbered, wearable object of design. It is designed to extend the Torciano experience beyond the winery, turning a bottle into something that can be carried, used and kept as part of everyday life.
